Talking to yourself out loud in the mirror is dorky and embarrassing.
The Self-Love Challenge officially begins today — a month of thinking and saying kind things to and about yourself every single day.
It’s even more effective if you write down these nice things, so at the end of the month you’ll have a whole list of your amazing qualities. And it’s most powerful if, in addition, you speak these loving words to yourself in the mirror.
I tried it just for practice yesterday, and it was hard. Even though I was alone, I barely spoke above a whisper, and I kind of gave myself the side-eye in the mirror while I was doing it. I felt stupid and embarrassed. I told myself, “I love you for going to the gym so many times last week.” It’s a true statement and not braggy or anything, but I still felt weird about it.
Today I tried to approach the challenge with a little more confidence. I still whispered, but I made eye contact with myself when I said, “I love you for being such a good pet parent.”
Are you trying the Self-Love Challenge? Is it weird?? I’m hoping it gets easier as we go through the month.
Here’s to self love!!
